Hey friends,

Phoebe and I wanted to update y’all on what is happening in our lives as ministry interns for Shiloh Church in Blackhawk, South Dakota. Based off the last time I wrote a blog which was August, yikes that was a while ago, a lot is happening for us as you may have caught on by the fact that we have not written a internship blog since August. Well, I am finally able to sit down and let you guys know what is happening since last summer till now. The biggest update that we have for you is that we took on the role of being the Shiloh Youth Group leaders since August. This role has truly blessed us and that is what I want to focus on in this blog is the discovery of our duty as youth leaders and the impact its had on us and the youth.

Colossians 3:12-14 says this, “So, as those who have been chosen of God, holy and beloved, put on a heart of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience; bearing with one another, and forgiving each other, whoever has a complaint against anyone; just as the Lord forgave you, so also should you. Beyond all these things put on love, which is the perfect bond of unity.” These verses summarize well what Phoebe and I’s mission statement is as we seek to minister to the Shiloh teens. We are spending a lot of time with teens from all different walks of life, and one of our big focuses has been how can we show the love of Christ to each one of them. Paul talks about this in Colossians 3:12-14 that the characteristics of love and forgiveness cultivate healthy relationships. From this, the big one that we have focused on is love. Throughout the youth group year, we are seeking to show love to each teen by having conversations with each of them which lets them know that they are loved and valued by us and most importantly by their Creator God.

Every Sunday night, we seek to show love to the teens (collectively and individually) by cultivating healthy relationships. Part of the cultivation process is the Bible study sessions we are having. This year, instead of going through a specific book of the Bible we chose to talk about different topics that need to be talked about because every moment that we live is training for a future moment where we may be tasked with answering difficult questions. For example, some of the topics we have talked about in depth include the topics of gossip, contentment, unhealthy friendships, social media, and how to disagree. These topics are a snapshot of some of the things we are talking about with them, and the reason we talk about these things with the teens is because we want them to be prepared for everything that life throws at them and our hope is that these sessions would help them become all that God desires them to be.

With that said, youth group is a wonderful blessing to us and to the teens as we seek to focus our hearts on Christ by digging into these topics each Sunday night. In addition, Phoebe and I are pumped to have currently 16 youth going to the FLY convention in Colorado this summer. Please be in prayer for them and all the other youth as they attend and as God speaks to each of them through the theme of RESTORATION! If you’d like to financially support the Shiloh Youth and the Shiloh staff on this adventure of a lifetime go to the give tab on the Shiloh Website and click on the FLY Youth camp tab to give.

Well Friends, thank you again for all your support through prayer and gifts financially (the give tab is found at the top of our page if you’d like to give to us). Thanks support fam!!! God bless!
