The Spotlight of VBS

Well with the school sports up and running along with the school year just right around the corner, it made me realize that it would be fun to update you guys on how VBS went for us at Shiloh Church. I will say with full confidence that the VBS week was a success! Throughout the week we averaged around 65 kids who came to play games, sing songs, make crafts, and learn about Jesus. God is so good, and I want to share just briefly how I saw His goodness shine throughout the week of vbs.

First of all, the VBS team from the Free Lutheran Bible College was fantastic! It was so fun to get to interact with them throughout week during VBS and doing different activities with them in the afternoons. One thing that I really enjoyed from them was their ability to clearly present the bible lesson. As I shared in the previous blog post this year’s theme was “sanctity of life.” They did a wonderful job presenting to the kids that their life has value and that their value ultimately comes from God.

Among other things that I could share, one specific thing that stood out to me was the theme of community. One of our goals, for us as coordinators, was to see the community of Shiloh come along side families outside of their church and form friendships. 1 Thessalonians 5:11 states, “Therefore encourage one another and build up one another, just as you also are doing.” How cool it was to see this being put into practice during vbs. For one example, the newly installed coffee shop played a big role in helping stir up friendly conversations with people. Also, the daily meal that was had helped kids interact with other kids and parents interact with other parents. One final thing I will say on this subject is that whenever you see kids interacting with other kids by getting them involved is that it makes one’s heart happy to see that!

Now with VBS in the rear view mirror, the focus shifts to ministry events for the fall. We’ll save talking about that for the next blog. Until then, it is good for us as people to remember that nothing is too big for God! And that can include VBS happening all throughout the summer where hundreds of kids’ lives are changed because of community and ultimately because of Jesus.

Friends, thank you again for all your support through prayer and gifts financially (the give tab is found at the top of the page). Thanks support fam!!!
