Howdy! It’s Isak and Phoebe here coming from Rapid City excited to share with you more from the ministries we are involved in at our current church, Shiloh. This month we want to share with you what the focus of Shiloh’s youth group has been this year. We wanted to start off by saying that we, for one, have been truly blessed by being able to be involved in the youth group at Shiloh. We know that the youth feel the same. Why do we say that? We think one of the words that sums up the amazing experience that youth group has brought is the word gathering. What do we mean by that?
Well, the big focus laid out by the youth leaders at Shiloh is living out what it means to gather as the body of believers. One way we have found to do this is by gathering around the table for supper and a bible study to follow. This table setting allows the youth and youth leaders to really connect over fun or serious conversations, whatever the case may be. Now yes physical food is important, but even greater is the spiritual food aspect which follows the supper meal. It is during this time, that we have personally seen the kids really grow in their faith. It is so fun to see their minds churning over our discussion of the Bible.
The book of James is the book that we have been starting to walk through since the beginning of January. As we’ve been discussing this book, one thing that we really have seen the kids try to work through is identity. The question of who or what my identity is in? It’s been awesome to see the kids realize over and over again that Jesus Christ is their identity. He is your identity as you place your faith in Him by His amazing grace! Amen!
As we continue to give you our blog full of fun stuff that we are learning. We look forward to sharing more about youth group with you guys from stories, to the fun games we play, to the testimonies of what the kids having been learning from the book of James. Again, Phoebe and I ask that you please be praying for these youth in their walk with the Lord. Pray for the Ruth and Tara, the main youth leaders, as they continue to do so much for the youth. Please be praying for Phoebe and myself as we continue to serve the youth with our gifts.
Apart from youth group, please be in prayer for the children’s ministry. Phoebe and I have a major role to play in that arena as we are trying to figure out the best way to go about having children’s ministry at Shiloh. Be in prayer for all of the preparation coming for this year’s upcoming VBS. Finally, if you would like to give to us, use the give tab at the top of the page and select Isak Olson. Thanks support fam!!!
